Last updated: 8 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how What We Think CIC (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses personal information when you use our website or contact us for support.

How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to your enquiry and provide appropriate support
- Refer or signpost you to other services where relevant
- Maintain accurate records of contact for safeguarding purposes
- Improve and develop our services
Lawful basis for processing
Where we process information about your health, mental wellbeing, experiences of abuse, or substance use, we treat this as special category data under UK GDPR. Information about spending on drugs, alcohol, or gambling falls into this category because it indirectly relates to health and addiction. Our lawful basis for processing is:
- Your explicit consent, given when you submit the Reach Out form
- Where applicable, the provision of health or social care by, or under the responsibility of, professionals
- Substantial public interest in safeguarding, where appropriate
Sharing your information
We do not sell or share your information with third parties for marketing. We may share information with:
- Statutory safeguarding agencies, where there is a risk of serious harm
- Other professionals or services, only with your knowledge and where appropriate
- Our hosting and database providers (Hostinger, Google Firebase) under strict confidentiality and data-processing agreements
How long we keep your information
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide support and meet our safeguarding, legal, and regulatory obligations. Enquiry records that do not progress to support are kept for a limited period and then securely deleted. Spending and situation details that you provide are stored alongside your enquiry record and treated with the same retention rules.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your information (subject to safeguarding and legal requirements)
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk
